The two companies are also working together to develop a educational page on Facebook to inform user’s about the latest threats. McAfee has also agreed to provide a “custom” McAfee technology which will clean a Facebook user’s computer if their account is compromised. Facebook will not generate any revenues from subscriptions secured by McAfee. “In total, this is a first-of-its-kind security offering that represents a major milestone in the fight to secure the Internet and reduce global cybercrime,” McAfee stated.įacebook users will be entitled to a six month subscription at no cost, and will be offered a discounted subscription price after the initial six month period expires. Internet security firm, McAfee (NYSE: MFE) has entered into agreement with social networking website, Facebook where it will offer its security software on a free six month trial basis to users in the U.S., U.K., Australia, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, France, Canada, Mexico and Brazil.įacebook will make the software, which protects personal computers from viruses, spyware, hackers and other online threats, available to 350 million plus users.
